Well he does live in Brighton...

There's nothing more pathetic than the hubris of a rancid old Popish queen. I would say I was surprised and shocked but I wasn't really, given his past comments about the Queen of Spain. And no I do not have any qualms about criticizing the clergy - I speak my mind and I am certainly no sycophant. This man is completely aliturgical, Ultramontane (his contempt for his own bishop is notorious) and has no mastery of the Latin language - typical of a Roman Traditionalist and twice as conceited.

  1. I find fourth form banter a shade tedious.

  2. If anything is fourth form it is that truly evil piece of filth, Mr. Blake of Brighton.

  3. Patricius, do you ever think about what the POINT of liturgy is?

  4. Of course I do. It is about apparelled albs and amices, the traditional surplice, only two candles on the High Altar, and the eschewing of Popery...

  5. Canon Jerome, I read Father Ray Blake because he is a sound Catholic priest and a member of the one true Faith.

  6. What is this, High St after the pubs close? What would a non-believing observer think after reading these comments? "Nice liturgical theatre. Shame about the Christianity." Without charity, which is of Christ, all liturgical fineries are reduced to camp.

Patricius, Tolkien (or any right-thinking Catholic) would *never* describe a priest in the those terms. Perhaps attacking priests and popes online with puerile language gives you some satisfaction, but I urge you to examine whether this sort of behavior does anything to move you closer to union with Christ.

  7. Rubricarius:

Calling Father Blake "Mr. Blake" and a "truly evil piece of filth", exactly what good does this do for your soul or for anyone else's?

Ah, well. At least you support "proper" liturgy!

  8. "only two candles on the High Altar"

Eek! Give me the big six, or give me death!!!!

  9. James C, I daresay your comments were charitable according to your fashion but I'm afraid I have zero respect for ill-informed and prejudiced Traditionalist clergy. Unlike some Romans I do not worship the ground that priests walk over, never have done and never will, and I despise sycophants - pond life in my humble opinion.

As for Rubricarius calling Fr Blake ''Mr Blake'' I would say that he is well within his rights to do so since the man's Orders are in question - indeed the Orders of all Roman clergy ordained after 1947 are dubious.

  10. Wow, Patricius. I mean, you say such intelligent things and I've learnt quite a bit from your blog, but you have absolutely no charity at all. I'm not even talking about you criticizing Fr Blake - but the way in which you do so. "Rancid old popish queen", I mean that's unacceptable way to speak about anyone, whether they're ordained or not. If you want to criticize, you can do so intelligently without cattiness. For all of your knowledge and all of you exposure to great liturgy, it "profiteth you nothing". You are "as sounding brass or a tinkling cymbal".

And you might look on my blog and say 'Oh 1962, typical', but I'm not 1962. I'm very sympathetic towards your position.

  11. PS You won't engender support for your position if you continue in this way. Which would be a great shame, because as you and Rubricarius have pointed out so well so often, 1962 is really not good enough.

  13. Furthermore, you of all people are hardly in a position to call someone else a 'queen'. Those in glass houses, and so on.

  14. James C,

I am sad that the treason laws no longer attract a capital penalty. It would have been natural justice if the good people of Brighton had strung Mr. Blake up from the nearest lamppost - at least that would have spared the world having to read anymore of the man's ongoing defecation of rubbish.

If anyone can be so evil, bitter and twisted not to be able to rejoice in the joy of a young couple being married, and a blessing for the Royal House of this land, then they should pack their bags and bugger off somewhere else.

Blake's comments were a damned disgrace - like the rubbish he dishes up in his chruch and on his blog.

    ''Good point!''

  17. 1947? Sacramentum Ordinis? I don't think I follow why Roman orders are in question...care to help me out?

  18. Sorry Richard,

I had not realised you were of 'that persuasion'.
