My best friend is a convinced atheist-marxist married to an observant Orthodox Jew (yes! it works!). No kids by choice. The children will be forbidden from even entering a church -- this is a written condition of the marriage. I have swore not to speak of Christianity around future children. Perhaps, then, these children will be blessed in that they will never have Santa invade their home. What a relief that I am freed from the reproductive imperative!

We all have to deal with the two month materialistic orgy known as "Christmas" or "Holiday" or whatever. Turn off the TV (in fact, kill your TV and never buy one again), stay far from the high street, pull out the Breviarium, and welcome the Christchild. In our parish the anno a creatione mundi (Christmas Proclamation) is always sung in darkness. Think of the brilliance of the Christmas Proclamation as arising from the darkness of a world without Christ.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
