Vestments...

Rubricarius of the St Lawrence Press has published a series of articles about the vestments of Dr Adrian Fortescue, salvaged from a skip by Fra' Duncan Gallie of the Knights of Malta - no doubt the priest responsible for throwing them away is a philistine with no liturgical or aesthetic sense. Do go over and look; the stoles are especially exquisite - not like the spade-shaped ones in vogue among the Sackville-Bagginses.

  1. Lol good one, there must be some mistake - no Roman cuts?

    *mock horror*

  2. Thank you for the link Patricius.

It is sad that only some of the vestments were saved. The cope in the photograph is probably buried on a land fill site somewhere along with much else. On the positive side we owe a debt of gratitude to Fra' Duncan and to the person who 'phoned him to say the vestments were thrown in a skip. At least some are extant.

  3. I looked at the photo's of the vestements, and can honestly say, that i find only the white vestments beautiful and liturgically proper enough to want to wear.
